Neom destination combines new technologies in a natural setting

Saudi Arabia‘s Neom has unveiled another Gulf of Aqaba destination, this time a wellness retreat called Elanan.

Via a press release, Elanan will redefine luxury and wellness experiences. Situated on the Gulf of Aqaba coastline within oasis surroundings, Elanan is fed by ancient natural springs.

“From the moment visitors arrive, they begin a rejuvenating journey within the calming embrace of nature,” said Neom.

Elanan offers 80 bespoke rooms and suites, as well as private dining facilities, swimming pools, and an observation tower. The retreat takes a modern approach to wellness, combining new technologies in a natural setting.

Mark Foster Gage Architects is using ultra-modern design techniques to create intricate sculptures for Elanan that blend with the surrounding environment.

Founder Mark Foster Gage told Dezeen: “Elanan is a resort in the Gulf of Aqaba that is nestled in a beautiful and natural environment, almost like a kind of secret garden.

“You see it’s this cube popping up from the treetops. And you’re like, what is this incredible place. And once you step through that doorway you’re in another world.

Redefining wellness experiences

“Architecture and nature come together and form something that is more beautiful than either of them would have been independently.”

Neom is a $500 billion tourism development in northwest Saudi Arabia. Its other sites within the Gulf of Aqaba are Leyja, Epicon, Siranna, Utamo, Norlana, Aquellum, Zardun, and Xaynor.

The giga-project also includes a luxury island called Sindalah, a zero-carbon city with “vertically layered” buildings named The Line, the Oxagon floating port city, and the Trojena ski resort.
