Powersoft to demo Mover haptic transducer at IAAPA Expo

Powersoft Mover IAAPA Expo

Delegates will experience the innovative technology used at Sphere in Las Vegas

Powersoft, the Italian amplifier specialist, has announced that it will present its innovative compact transducer, Mover, at the IAAPA Expo in Orlando from 14 to 17 November.

Mover enables guests to feel the music at Sphere in Las Vegas. Delegates at the Expo will be able to experience this ground-shaking technology with two demonstrations which are taking place at the Powersoft booth, #662, in the Show Production & Design Pavilion.

This transducer uses the body’s capacity to sense low-frequency audio frequencies through bone conduction—a process known as haptic perception—to deliver sound using Powersoft’s unique ultra-low-frequency, moving-magnet linear motor technology.

Both demonstrations will highlight how Mover can be used to effortlessly add a new dimension to a variety of visitor attractions, from immersive science exhibitions to theme and amusement park rides. The first demo will show how haptic technology can be built into a haptic floor, while the second will show how the transducer can be incorporated into a cinema seat.

Attractions Technology Lab

The IAAPA Expo is taking place from 13 to 17 November at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, with the trade show floor opening on 14 November.

On Monday 13 November, Powersoft will co-host a 60-minute educational session on haptic technology and immersive visual experiences with its partner StrongMDI, at Oceaneering (Horizon Park location, Orlando). Beyond Boundaries: Powersoft Haptics and StrongMDI’s Visionary Blend, part of the Attractions Technology Lab (ATL) which accompanies the IAAPA Expo, takes place at 3 pm, with a limited capacity of 50 delegates.

In addition to Beyond Boundaries, visitors to the Attractions Technology Lab can try out Powersoft’s moving-magnet haptic with the pioneering SEISMOs floor, which is the focal point of the new ATL Tech Galley. StrongMDI created this interactive haptic flooring system to elicit an emotional reaction through vertical movement. It fully incorporates Powersoft audio and tactile feedback technology into a seamless sensory experience.

Powersoft, in collaboration with Q-SYS, is also powering the ATL Dark Ride Lab. Here, its superior audio solutions provide crystal-clear sound quality which immerses delegates in a world of technocratic soundscapes which have been created especially for the event.

Visitors can register online for sessions at the Attractions Technology Lab.

Francesco Fanicchi, Powersoft’s corporate and marketing communication manager, says: “We are thrilled to be returning to the IAAPA Expo and Attractions Technology Lab. With visitor expectations at an all-time high, haptic feedback is fast becoming a ‘must have’ for future-conscious attraction operators, and we’re looking forward to demonstrating how Powersoft technologies can help elevate the audience experience.”

Mover has been integrated into 10,000 immersive seats at Sphere in Las Vegas. Its haptic feedback gives guests a more convincing, authentic live experience by engaging senses in addition to visual and audio stimulation. Powersoft’s moving-magnet technology, which is more robust, precise, and efficient than other tactile transducers, relies on the ultra-low-frequency reproduction of an audio signal to make the attraction’s chairs vibrate and shake as required for each show.

Powersoft technology has also recently been deployed at Gardaland, Italy’s biggest theme park, where its Quattrocanali 2404 DSP+D amplifiers are a component in a multi-sensory experience at Jumanji: The Adventure, one of the park’s newest attractions.

Fanicchi adds: “From Sphere and Gardaland to Illuminarium in Atlanta and Amsterdam’s Our House, Powersoft is rapidly cementing its leading role in the global attractions market with a portfolio of state-of-the-art, made-for-attractions technology solutions. After a successful show debut last year, we’re looking forward to connecting once again with some of the biggest names in visitor attractions at IAAPA Expo 2023. See you there!”

Earlier this month, Powersoft announced that it has collaborated with Strong Global Entertainment subsidiaries, Strong Technical Services (STS) and STRONG/MDI Screen Systems (STRONG/MDI). The collaboration includes the resale, integration, and installation of Powersoft products, supported by STS, in addition to the development of STRONG/MDI’s Seismos Immersive Product Line through the use of Powersoft’s Mover Direct Drive.
