Semnox Solutions, a provider of technology for the entertainment and amusement industry, has expanded its list of US clients with two more locations.
The iconic Sea Isle boardwalk in New Jersey is home to the Boardwalk Casino and Island Breeze Casino, two arcades that offer summertime family entertainment to both frequent visitors and first-timers.
Both arcades are owned and run by the Kiska family, who sought to retain a traditional atmosphere while implementing a token-based payment system. They came to the conclusion that not using cards was not an option after going to the IAAPA Expo last year.
“We were worried switching to a card-based system would take part of the fun out of the experience for guests. We wanted to stay true to the end goal – providing entertainment,” says Boardwalk Casino owner Ryan Kiska.
“Not only have our guests been happy with the transition, but Parafait has also brought us into the twenty-first century. We did not realise how many sales we were missing because we were a cash-only facility.”
Cross-venue functionality
Some Semnox’s Parafait system features that were added include the LuminOS reader for tap-to-play capabilities, POS and redemption systems, as well as on-demand roaming between the Boardwalk Casino site and Island Breeze Casino location for cross-venue play and upsell choices.
Since switching to card readers for the majority of their indoor arcades, the arcades saw a rise in gross sales and a positive change in customer behaviour. With the help of the Parafait system, which monitors game usage and can notify workers when a game needs maintenance, daily operations are able to run more efficiently. The LuminOS over-the-air firmware updates, the 5 GHz Support, and the web service-based communication are also valuable to both sites.
Semnox CEO Kiran Karanki says: “We have just scratched the surface of possibilities with the LuminOS. Having replicated the functionality of a regular reader on an OS-based reader, we are now discussing ways in which we can go beyond the current functionality with our customers.
“We believe that LuminOS has significant potential both in terms of how the interactions with the customer are crafted as well as how the interaction with game machines take place.”
Semnox has also recently serviced venues in the Middle East including Landmark Group’s Fun City entertainment brand, which utilises the firm’s Parafait RFID cashless solution at all of its locations in the region.
