Daisy Shang is Excutive VP at Fantawild, one of the most prolific domestic theme park developers in China. Fantawild both operates parks and supplies its own IP and attractions.
Fantawild has opened six new parks in the last two years alone, taking its present portfolio up to 28. Whilst earlier offerings were built under the Fantawild Adventure or Fantawild Dreamland name, most of the newer parks feature an Oriental Heritage theme. Attractions across the portfolio include a mix of roller coasters and rides from Chinese and Western manufacturers together with media-based experiences developed in-house.
In development are animation theme parks in Taizhou (Zheigang Province) and Shangqiu (Henan Province). These will provide an additional outlet for Fantawild’s characters such as Boonie Bears and the Realm of Terracotta.
Shang highlights why the Shenzhen-based organisation has been able to build and expand its theme park footprint so quickly. “Fantawild is self-sufficient with regard to innovation,” she says. “The company is more than capable in terms of creativity, scientific research and development.”
