Robin van der Want Project Development Director Jora Vision

Robin van der Want is project development director at Jora Vision, a leading design and production company. He has exceptional project management and concept advisor skills, and in his position at Jora Vision, van der Want guides theme parks through strategic decisions around investing in themed attractions such as dark rides, walkthroughs, art experiences and many more. He also oversees the total process of procurement and design.

During his career, he has worked on projects at some of the world’s leading parks, including Walibi Belgium, Legendia in Poland and Europa-Park in Germany. He also worked on the new Quake Lisbon Earthquake Experience.

Quake Lisbon Earthquake Center officially opened to visitors in April 2022 following Jora Vision’s creative involvement spanning three years. Inspired by the earthquake of 1 November 1755, the experience investigates the story that dramatically reshaped the city’s landscape and streets, resulting in a tsunami and devastating fires. The natural phenomenon had a global impact and still has significance today.

He has been a driving force behind a number of collaborations between suppliers of technology to create all-new immersive storytelling-based attractions across the globe. Van der Want was part of the project team for three major dark rides which all received a Thea Award from the TEA: Snorri Touren at Europa Park, Popcorn Revenge at Walibi Belgium and Bazyliszek at Legendia.

Snorri Touren is a family-friendly dark ride, in which octopus Snorri takes guests to the mysterious island of Rulantica. Guests enjoy an adventurous expedition in a rubber dinghy and discover the various themed areas of the magical island. Meanwhile, Walibi’s Popcorn Revenge features cartoon-like popcorn characters who, tired of being eaten by cinema-goers, pop out of their boxes and proceed to cause chaos across a variety of scenes inspired by popular movies. Bazyliszek was Poland’s first interactive dark ride. It challenges passengers to hunt monsters in a magical forest.
