Yannick Maes is the owner of KCC Entertainment Design, a leading creator of themed environments. Maes founded the company in 2000 with plans to design and create ‘karting entertainment centres’. Karting was popular in Belgium at the time, and was gaining fans in Asia and the US.
“Our first contract was for a karting entertainment centre in Hong Kong followed by several locations in the USA,” Maes said. “Quickly the ‘karting entertainment centres’ business got extended with other entertainment offerings.”
After this, KCC designed and constructed its first karting location in the Middle East, at the Serafi Mega Mall in Jeddah. “Then, the owner of the mall invited us to design and build an indoor entertainment park in a different part of the mall,” Maes said.
In 2020, KCC Entertainment Design celebrated 20 years in the attractions industry. The company later marked the opening of the Chocolate Kingdom Theme Park in Yingde, China. Other projects from the company include Go Planet in Latvia, Tekzone in Kuwait, Angry Birds World in Qatar, and the Wanda Nanjing Theme Park and Smurfs Theme Park in China.
