Popular Belgian theme park, Bellewaerde, has announced that it will open a Duelling Alpine Coaster on a manmade hillside this year.
The 4 million euro attraction will be the first of its kind in Europe.
The key difference with this ride is the chance to race one another on two parallel tracks.
According to the park’s director, Stefaan Lemey, the ride is being created to appeal to families.
The walk to the ride’s launch point is also being designed as an experience in itself. Families make their way to a 25-metre high tower offering spectacular views over the theme park.
The ride is being constructed by German company, Wiegand.
Bellewaerde has received 11 nominations for the Diamond ThemePark Awards that celebrate the best in Belgium and the Netherlands. Votes cast by guests online will determine the final winners.
