Blackpool Pleasure Beach has shared a first-look concept video of its new £8.72 million swinging pendulum ride, set to be the UK‘s tallest of its kind.
Named Aviktas and opening next year, the attraction is a Gyro Swing by Intamin, a creator of record-breaking amusement rides.
The spinning pendulum ride will swing 120 degrees and reach 138 feet at its highest point, with up to 40 riders facing outwards with their legs dangling as they experience the feeling of flying.
Amanda Thompson, CEO of Pleasure Beach Resort, said: “We’re known for going big at Pleasure Beach, and Aviktas is exactly that.
“We hope by releasing this video, guests will be able to understand the mammoth scale of our new investment, and the huge impact it’ll have on our park and the industry as a whole.
“This ride will be colossal, daunting, exhilarating and an incredible addition to the town.”
The UK is home to other swinging pendulum rides, including a 74-foot-high Gyro Swing called Maelstrom at Drayton Manor.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s ride will be almost double that height at 138 feet.
“This is the first small tease of what we have planned, there’s plenty more teasers on the way,” Thompson added.
Construction is underway on Aviktas, which is located on the former Bowl-A-Drome site. After demolition work, the area is now completely clear for the new ride.
As well as unveiling the new attraction, Blackpool Pleasure Beach has announced plans to become the first-ever theme park to broadcast from space.
The park has partnered with a specialist team of scientists from Sent Into Space to launch a screen above the planet to deliver messages from the public from space.
The mission attempt is to celebrate the recent reopening of Pleasure Beach’s reimagined Launch Pad ride.
