Walt Disney Imagineering has released a rendering of the updated ride

Epcot at Walt Disney World Resort is to close its popular Test Track attraction this summer for a reimagining.

Officially opened in 1999 and now sponsored by Chevrolet, Test Track is a high-speed car ride. Guests race along a winding circuit through straightaways, curves banked at 50-degree angles, and hills up to three storeys high.

The ride will close on 17 June for the work to be carried out. Walt Disney Imagineering has released a rendering of the updated attraction, but no more details.

Via WKMG ClickOrlando, Imagineers and Chevrolet will draw inspiration from the World of Motion opening day ride at Epcot for the reimagined Test Track attraction.

Meanwhile at Epcot, the park’s new Moana-themed walk-through attraction, Journey of Water, opened in October.

The self-guided, tropical-themed experience is the first Disney parks attraction based on the Walt Disney Animation Studios film Moana (2016).

Journey of Water is part of a multi-year transformation of Epcot. It joins new experiences at the park such as Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.

Multi-year transformation of Epcot

Disney recently confirmed plans for “probably the largest expansion ever” at Florida’s Magic Kingdom.

The project is one part of Disney’s planned $60 billion investment in its parks and experiences over the next decade.

“We have an ambitious growth story that is supported by a proven track record and a bold vision for the future of our parks business,” Disney parks chairman Josh D’Amaro said in 2023.

“We have a wealth of untapped stories to bring to life across our business.”
