Efteling is opening a special fairytale inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland for its 70th anniversary, with the new temporary attraction running from 28 March through 3 October.
The interactive experience, called Efteling Wonderland, is a ‘mad tea party’ hosted by the Mad Hatter and March Hare to celebrate Efteling‘s 70th anniversary. The event will take place all day on the Speelweide playing field.
“Efteling is celebrating its seventieth anniversary in turbulent times, so the importance of being together and escaping reality once in a while is more important than ever,” said Fons Jurgens, Efteling CEO.
“We have consciously chosen to create a temporary but innovative fairytale that is about celebration,” he added. “Here, our visitors will be the guests of honour and play an active part in the fairytale with the help of the Mad Hatter and March Hare.”

“Efteling will always remain true to the fairytales, but is also looking for different and unique ways to innovate throughout the years to ensure we celebrate another seventy years,” Jurgens said.
Visitors will go down a ‘rabbit-hole’ into the March Hare’s vegetable garden, where they’ll find fun activities and music, as well as a table with teacups, cakes and party hats.

The new fairytale will also include a souvenir stand and an area serving snacks and drinks. Access to Efteling Wonderland is included in the price of admission to Efteling.
Efteling recently unveiled plans for a new hotel and a new themed area anchored by an indoor attraction. Both projects are scheduled to launch in 2024 as part of the ‘World of Efteling 2030’ expansion.
The park kicked off its 70th-anniversary celebrations earlier this year with the opening of two new attractions, Sirocco and Archipel. These are part of the World of Sindbad area.
