Eurosat Coastiality: Europa-Park launches Roam & Ride VR ride

Eurosat Coastiality

Europa-Park, Germany, has opened Eurosat Coastiality: the world’s first Roam & Ride VR coaster. Guests will be immersed in a VR world before and during the ride.

Guests will don a VR headset during the Eurosat Coastiality pre-show. It will remain on throughout the duration of the ride: with physical sets that match the virtual display, and avatars of other visitors.

Guests even board the carriages while wearing the VR headsets.

The innovation is the result of collaboration between MackMedia, VR Coaster, Holodeck VR, and EuropaCorp.

Michael Mack, CEO of MackMedia, said: “The pre-show, the walk along the railway bridge, the entry into the rollercoaster car and the subsequent ride are all part of a unique virtual reality spectacle, which can only be experienced in this dimension and combination at our Europa-Park.”

The ride is set in the universe of French space opera Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.

Mack said: “I cannot imagine a better partner for the Eurosat Coastiality project. The combination of Luc Besson, the French star director, and Valerian’s sensational space story is a perfect fit for us. I am happy to be able to pick up on the popular space theme ‒ as previously with the cult rollercoaster Eurosat and the ‘Mission to Space’ flight ‒ and offer it once again to our visitors.”

The Mack family have run Europa-Park for four decades. Over 5.6 million visitors flocked to Germany’s largest theme park last year, an all-time record. The Nordic-themed Rulantica resort extension is the biggest project in the park’s history. It will feature 25 attractions in eight themed areas.

MackMedia was founded by Michael Mack in 2002. It was established with the intention to visually document the history and future development of Europa-Park. Its portfolio has expanded since. The company spans from from media productions for a wide range of industries to offerings for the theme park industry, to Music, Games & App Publishing and IP, Brand and Licensing development.
