The park’s Fujiyama Tower observation deck will feature the Fujiyama Slider, the longest tube slide in Japan.

Japan’s Fuji-Q Highland is preparing to launch its latest attraction for thrill-seekers, a 120-metre tubular slide called the Fujiyama Slider.

Part of the Fujiyama roller coaster’s Fujiyama Tower observation deck, the Fujiyama Slider is the longest tube slide in Japan. It offers a gripping 20-second experience from the top of the tower to the ground. The slide is built by Josef Wiegand, the family-owned manufacturer of toboggan runs, rail-mounted toboggans and stainless steel dry slides.

The Fujiyama Tower provides amazing views of Mount Fuji. Visitors travel to the top via an internal elevator, where they can enjoy the observation deck or take a thrilling walk on a winding track without handrails.

The Fujiyama Slider will open on 22 July (via SoraNews24). It will cost between 800 and 1,200 yen ($6 to $9) per ride depending on the season.

In 2020, Fuji-Q Highland made the news when it asked roller coaster riders to “please scream inside your heart” to reduce the risk of spreading Covid-19.

The theme park released an amusing promotional video showing two executives silently enjoying the Fujiyama coaster.

Last year, Fuji-Q Highland added a pair of ‘windswept cages’ to its Shining Flower Ferris wheel to imprison guests.

Fuji-Q said “prisoners will be punished for about 11 minutes in a windswept cage, enjoying the thrill of seeing the ground far below through the gaps and enduring the ridicule of the surroundings”.

Elsewhere, Brighton’s British Airways i360 observation tower has launched a hair-raising sky walk experience. Blackpool Pleasure Beach is also offering exciting experiences that allow guests to climb its coasters.

Edge at Hudson Yards, the highest outdoor observation deck in the Western Hemisphere, features a skyscraper climbing experience. Ain Dubai, the world’s tallest and largest observation wheel, opened in October 2021.
