Galaxyland at Canada’s West Edmonton Mall is to open as a Hasbro-themed amusement park on 17 December.

The theme park is being transformed into Galaxyland Powered by Hasbro. The opening event will feature a mascot parade of Hasbro characters such as Mr. Potato Head, Monopoly’s Rich Uncle Pennybags and My Little Pony.

Galaxyland has been refreshed with some of Hasbro’s popular brands, including Play-Doh, Monopoly, My Little Pony, Mr. Potato Head and Operation.

New attractions include Trouble Twist, Hungry Hungry Hippos Feeding Frenzy, Sorry! Sliders Bumper Cars and Play-Doh Dizzy Doh-Dohs.

“We’re thrilled for the opening celebration of Galaxyland Powered by Hasbro and to continue our ‘Blueprint 2.0’ strategy of offering more meaningful ways for families to engage with our brands,” said Matt Proulx, VP of location-based entertainment at Hasbro (via DailyHive).

Hasbro’s LBE expansion

“Parents, grandparents, and kids of all ages recognize the iconic brands this amusement park showcases and our immense brand-building capabilities through unique and exciting real-life experiences,” he added.

Elsewhere, Saudi Arabia’s Al Hokair Group has teamed up with Hasbro to launch a new family entertainment centre (FEC) concept called Playocity throughout the kingdom.

The new FECs will be home to attractions and experiences based on Power Rangers, Mr. Potato Head, Transformers, My Little Pony, Monopoly, Nerf and Connect4.

Additionally, Hasbro’s Monopoly Lifesized board game experience has opened in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – the first international venue after the launch of Monopoly Lifesized in London in 2021.

The second phase of Galaxyland Powered by Hasbro is due to be completed in 2023.
