The Hong Kong Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (HKAAPA) held a memorable theme party at Ocean Park on 23 May, 2013 to welcome five new members into the organization.
Executives from Hong Kong Broadband Network Limited, PCCW, Shenzhen Longri, Skafos International Limited and Tejix were guests of honor at the innovative event which brought them together with 20 representatives from the nine original founding member companies.
The fun filled party, full of memories from the past, was held at Old Hong Kong, an attraction at Ocean Park which is uniquely themed with the streetscape and architectural styles of Hong Kong from the 1950s to the 1970s. At Old Hong Kong, guests encountered staff and performers dressed in period costumes in the styles of 50’s Hong Kong, offering them special photo opportunities and atmosphere of yesteryear.
Mr. Paul Pei, President of HKAAPA, dressed in colorful bell bottom pants of the 50’s, said at the theme party, “As a Hong Kong association representing the exciting attractions industry, we welcome the joining of new members with creative memories of the past and share the innovative spirit which has made Hong Kong a success and the center of Asia today.”
Members were presented with an array of all-time-favorite street foods inspired by the humble history of Old Hong Kong, including favorites such as stuffed triple treasures, fish balls, egg waffles, egg tarts, soy bean milk and Chinese milk tea. Mr. Pei added, “The theme party was a great networking opportunity for HKAAPA members to meet industry peers and share visions to promote the positive image of tourism in Hong Kong.”
Mr. Pei further commented, “Thanks largely to the valuable support and contribution of association members, we are pleased with the achievements of HKAAPA since its official launch in November 2012. In addition to many more networking activities coming up, a series of educational programmes will be launched later this year, offering industry practitioners and students studying tourism, tailored modules on diverse aspects of attractions management.”
Scheduled to launch in late 2013, HKAAPA education programmes will feature a comprehensive curriculum on management knowledge and industry best practices, lively illustrated by case examples relevant to the marketplace. Each programme will be organized at one of the member attraction facility, giving a valuable opportunity for participants to learn and take a closer look at the actual operations of the business.
