Intamin, a creator of record-breaking amusement rides, has announced the arrival of Namazu at Vulcania in France. The new ride, an Intamin multi-dimension launch coaster, opened to the public at the popular themed amusement and science park on 10 July 2021.
Namazu is an immersive family thrill experience that takes guests on a journey with seismologists, through a themed queue line and into the “Namazu” team’s lab for a scientific adventure in a newly active seismic zone.
Twists, turns & surpise elements
Following the coaster’s departure from the station, it heads into a stone cave where a surprise earthquake occurs, leading the cave to collapse and the train to fall several metres downwards. After escaping the cave, guests enjoy the first launch and a panoramic high turn with an airtime hill.
Along the way, riders will experience a highspeed S-turn, a zig-zag speed bump and a jump over an S-hump into the second launch/boost, as well as several twists, turns and ground-hugging elements.
The ride features 584 metres of track, one launch and one boost. It reaches high speeds of 69 kilometres per hour and has two 12-seat, ATV themed trains. These are designed with freedom, comfort and safety in mind.
“Intamin congratulates Vulcania on their first roller coaster operating in their park and is proud to have contributed to this beautiful project,” says a statement from the company.
Earlier this week, Intamin also presented upgrades to its Surf Family coasters – The Surf Rider 2.0, which is available in two sizes, and The Ultra Surf. All Surf Family members now have an increased capacity and feature the most powerful LSM launch system on the market, as well as many moments of weightlessness and airtime.
The company also recently celebrated the opening of Kondaa, the highest and fastest roller coaster in Benelux, at Walibi Belgium.
