New groundbreaking rides to launch in 2026

Merlin Entertainments has unveiled the new space-themed indoor coasters for its Legoland resorts in Florida and California.

Launching in early 2026, the new groundbreaking indoor coasters represent the largest-ever single in-park investment in the history of both Legoland destinations at £70 million.

They are set to be the most technologically advanced attractions ever created at Legoland Florida and Legoland California, brought to life by Merlin designers and engineers in collaboration with the Lego Group.

“After months of anticipation, we’re delighted to confirm details of these immersive, space-themed themed experiences at two of Merlin’s premier resorts globally,” said Fiona Eastwood, CEO of Merlin Entertainments.

“This £70m investment exemplifies our strategy to premiumise our existing portfolio, offering young families even more high-quality attractions, with the captivating storytelling and learning through play that Legoland Resorts are renowned for.”

At Legoland Florida, guests will blast off from Spaceport 885, named after the original Lego Space Scooter set (#885).

Technologically advanced rides at Legoland parks

The new ride is the first indoor coaster to be built inside the main park since Legoland Florida opened in 2011.

Legoland Florida will also offer the Orbital Outpost retail shop, and a space-themed Duplo soft play zone for young visitors.

At Legoland California, the new coaster will be part of a new themed land, which includes two additional space-themed rides, a toddler play area, and space-inspired F&B and retail outlets.

Legoland California’s coaster blasts off from Spaceport 886, named after one of the original Lego Space Buggy sets (#886).

“Our Merlin Magic Making creative team are constantly working on new, compelling and interactive experiences across our Legoland Resorts as we further strengthen our partnership with the Lego Group and broaden our appeal to Lego’s global fan base,” Eastwood added.

“In both locations the boundless creativity of Lego will meet the wonders of space – setting a new standard for fun and imagination, and once again providing guests with a new reason to visit these destination resorts.”

Merlin’s latest reveal comes after last month’s opening of Legoland Shanghai, China’s first Legoland resort and the largest Legoland park to date.
