Legoland Florida has announced a new opening date for its upcoming Pirate River Quest boat ride, which will welcome riders on 12 January 2023.

The family-friendly attraction was originally scheduled to open this month, but it was delayed due to high water levels following Hurricane Ian.

Guests will ride on captain-driven boats as they navigate the passageways of Lake Eloise and Cypress Gardens.

As they attempt to uncover the lost treasure of Captain Redbeard, riders will meet a crew of Lego pirates, a troop of naughty monkeys, and a terrifying kraken.

Starting on 21 January, Legoland Florida will host ‘Pirate Fest Weekends’ on five consecutive weekends. These will feature exclusive character meet-and-greets, exciting entertainment, Lego builds and special F&B.

Legoland Florida is a 150-acre theme park with more than 50 rides, live shows and themed attractions. The resort is also home to a water park, as well as the Legoland Hotel, Legoland Pirate Island Hotel and Legoland Beach Retreat.

Legoland Florida is operated by Merlin, a leader in location-based family entertainment. Earlier this year, it became the first theme park resort to earn a Certified Autism Center (CAC) designation.

The designation includes the hotels, as well as the theme park, water park and Peppa Pig Theme Park.

Kelly Hornick, head of marketing and communications for Legoland Florida, thanked the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards for “helping us be more welcoming and more inclusive to more families, including those with sensory needs”.
