Mack Animation, a leading animation studio and film production company, is celebrating the release of Grand Prix of Europe, an animated film featuring Europa-Park mascots, Ed and Edda.
The launch coincides with the 50th anniversary of the park and marks the beloved characters’ first feature film. Audiences will join the adventurous mice on a high-speed journey to some of the most beautiful cities and finest attractions in Europe.
Grand Prix of Europe launches in Germany, Austria and German-speaking Switzerland today (24 July), and will be released in the UK and Ireland on 22 August.
High-speed thrills & endless action
Grand Prix of Europe is a beautifully animated racing adventure that will captivate audiences with its spirit, spectacle and showmanship. Following in the footsteps of favourites such as Happy Family, Cars, and Zootopia, the film will entertain the entire family with a story that explores the power of friendship, solidarity and believing in your dreams.
The action-packed, witty film was produced by Michael Mack, managing partner of Europa-Park and founder of the entertainment company MACK Magic, a dedicated division within the MACK Group, which is responsible for storytelling and character brand development.

The film follows Mack’s philosophy of in-house production, and was made at MACK Magic in Rust and Strasbourg, with animation from the MACK Animation studio in Hanover. This studio has also created successful cinema releases such as Konferenz der Tiere and the Happy Family franchise.
Grand Prix of Europe was first envisioned seven years ago. The story and script were refined over several years, followed by approximately two and a half years of production.
It is directed by Waldemar Fast, who has more than two decades of experience in the animation industry as a director and animator for many successful productions, with a cast featuring Gemma Arterton, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Hayley Atwell, Lenny Henry and Rob Beckett.
The feature film serves as a centrepiece for Europa-Park’s 50th anniversary celebrations, and visitors can immerse themselves in the film’s world at various locations across the park.
In March, Mack Animations celebrated Thea Award wins for Voltron Nevera at Europa-Park in Germany and Chimelong Spaceship at Chimelong Resort in China. The studio contributed to both attractions as part of the project teams.
