New park to offer Hot Wheels-themed coasters and a Barbie Beach House

Mattel and Epic Resort Destinations have announced plans for a second Mattel Adventure Park, this time in Kansas City, Missouri.

Due to open in 2026 and located in Bonner Springs, the new park will feature Hot Wheels-themed coasters, a Barbie Beach House, and Thomas & Friends attractions.

The Kansas City location will include the same attractions confirmed for the Mattel theme park in Glendale, Arizona, including two Hot Wheels coasters – Hot Wheels Bone Shaker: The Ultimate Ride and Hot Wheels Twin Mill Racer.

Thomas & Friends: World of Sodor will be an area of the new park with family-friendly attractions and rides, and an indoor play space.

Mattel’s LBE expansion

Also coming to the new Kansas City site is a life-size Barbie Beach House with an interactive retail experience and hologram technology. The attraction includes a Barbie-themed flying theatre, and a Barbie-themed restaurant and bar.

Fans of Masters of the Universe will enjoy the He-Man vs. Skeletor Laser Tag experience, a laser tag arena designed to look like the iconic Castle Grayskull fortress.

Other highlights include an immersive mini-golf experience with nine holes inspired by brands such as Magic 8 Ball and Pictionary, and a huge Uno-themed climbing structure.

“We are thrilled to expand these themed entertainment destinations and invite new fans to experience the world of Mattel in all-new ways as they create lasting memories with loved ones,” Silverman said.

Mark Cornell, president of Epic Resort Destinations, added: “We are bringing Mattel’s powerhouse brands to life through state-of-the-art technology and engaging experiences. This new destination is sure to provide infinite fun for the whole family.”
