Barbie-themed rooms, activities and F&B will be available

Another Barbie-themed immersive experience is set to launch, this time at the Atlantis Paradise Island resort in the Bahamas.

The new Barbie experience, called ‘Barbie Bahamas Beach Vacation: Where Atlantis Dreams Come True’, coincides with the 65th anniversary of the doll brand this year.

It debuts on Memorial Day weekend in May, and features immersive playsets, activity stations, themed Barbie doll boxes for photo opportunities, and a Barbie-style ball pit.

“What better way to celebrate Barbie’s 65th anniversary than to create a one-of-a-kind guest experience for the first time ever at Atlantis Paradise Island,” said Julie Freeland, senior director of location-based entertainment at Mattel.

Atlantis Bahamas

“Atlantis is unmatched in offering top of the line experiences, a commitment to consumers and fans that we deeply value at Mattel.”

As part of the experience, Barbie-themed guest rooms and suites will be available at the Atlantis resort. These will feature pink pillows and throw blankets, as well as customised chair cushions.

The Coral hotel’s Sun & Ice café will be transformed into a “Barbie culinary adventure”, says a press release. There will be a Barbie-inspired menu of desserts, drinks.

“Atlantis Paradise Island’s collaboration with the global toy and entertainment company Mattel adds to the resort’s 25-year history in providing world-class, experiential entertainment,” added Audrey Oswell, president and managing director at Atlantis Paradise Island.

Mattel’s LBE expansion

“We are a resort that has a long history of delivering unforgettable experiences to our guests, and firsts to the Bahamas. Barbie fits that bill.”

Other Barbie experiences to launch of late include a dining experience at Mall of America, and an interactive attraction in the UK. London’s Design Museum is opening a new exhibition on the history of Barbie this year.

The biggest project is a new Mattel theme park coming to Arizona. This will be home to a life-size Barbie Beach House with hologram technology to bring the iconic doll to life.
