Meow Wolf has partnered with Elitch Gardens – both in Denver, Colorado – to open a new art ride called Kaleidoscape in April 2019.
Kaleidoscape will be a never-before-seen attraction. It will take guests on an immersive and interactive experience. Motion, sound, color and also interactivity will create an immersive world around you. It will be the first artist-driven dark ride the world has ever seen.
Layne Pitcher, Elitch Gardens’ Marketing Director, said: “All of us at Elitch Gardens are thrilled to be partnering with Meow Wolf to create this unique, mysterious and artistic new ride. The park is a long-standing Denver staple known for offering one-of-a-kind family fun and this new ride will continue that tradition in its most original way ever.
“Amusement park rides are works of art with architecture, pacing, sensation, color, theme and more. To create a dark ride has been a true dream of ours and we’re deeply honored to work with Elitch Gardens to create the first ride in the world that is also a multimedia piece of contemporary art. Meow Wolf’s Kaleidoscape is an adventure that will be a prequel experience to our blockbuster Denver exhibit in 2020.”
Rides “are works of art”
Vince Kadlubek, CEO and co-founder of Meow Wolf, said: “Meow Wolf artists love amusement park rides. They are works of art with architecture, pacing, sensation, color, theme and more. To create a dark ride has been a true dream of ours and we’re deeply honored to work with Elitch Gardens to create the first ride in the world that is also a multimedia piece of contemporary art. Over a million visitors have experienced House of Eternal Return in Santa Fe and we aim to pack as many mind-blowing visuals as possible into Meow Wolf’s Kaleidoscape.”
Meow Wolf is a group of artists from a variety of disciplines that came together just to make art. It ended up becoming, not just a creative powerhouse, but a profitable business.
Vince Kadlubek also spoke to Blooloop about the art collective.
