Europa-Park is constructing a hotel themed on a natural history museum close to the new Water World of Rulantica.
Set to open in spring 2019, the seven-storey ‘Krønasår’ is part of a massive 450,000 sqm resort extension and will accommodate up to 1,300 overnight guests.
The park’s sixth themed hotel features the ‘Bubba Svens’ restaurant, designed to look like an old boathouse. There will also be a more upmarket restaurant for fine dining featuring a ‘Chef’s Table’ for 20 people, offering ‘exclusive glimpses into the kitchen’. The ‘Café Konditori’ and a bar themed on Nordic explorers complete the F&B offer.
On arrival at the natural history museum-themed hotel, guests will be greeted by the ‘mystical and imposing skeleton’ of Svalgur, the sea serpent. Svalgur is a character from the themed world of ‘Rulantica’, developed by MackMedia and Mack Solutions. According to the park, there will be ‘more unique and historical artefacts’ to discover.
A bridge will allow hotel guests exclusive access to Rulantica
The hotel will feature 276 themed rooms as well as 28 suites with a room size of up to 92 square metres. A bridge will link the hotel ‘Krønasår’ with the new Water World to allow overnight guests direct, exclusive access to Rulantica.
The new hotel brings the number of beds at Europa-Park to 5,800. According to the park, it will also create around 250 new jobs. Other facilities include parking spaces for electric vehicles and 25 e-bike charging stations. There will also be two multifunctional event venues. Bookings will be taken from summer 2018 onwards.
Europa-Park has been run by the Mack family for four decades. Over 5.6 million visitors flocked to Germany’s largest theme park last year, an all-time record. The Nordic-themed Rulantica resort extension is the biggest project in the park’s history and will feature 25 attractions in eight themed areas.
