With a VR coaster in the offing, SeaWorld Orlando is looking to virtual reality to enhance the visitor experience of its live animals.
The park is transformingits Kraken coaster into an undersea VR thrill ride this summer. The technology is seen as a way to reduce capital expenditure by refreshing rides with new media content.SeaWorld is also exploring how to use VR withits live animals toallow visitors to gain a better understanding of their natural behaviour. Chief Executive Officer, Joel Manby, said in a call with analysts that VR technology enables virtual experiences for visitors that are notpossible in the real world.
He added that the company would monitor and learn from both applications of VR technology.
