SeaWorld survey suggests possible reopening measures

SeaWorld has sent out a survey to establish how visitors would feel about certain safety precautions being put into place upon reopening.

My News 13 reports that this survey gives people a range of responses, from ‘this is absolutely necessary’ to ‘this would be a major problem’ to a variety of safety measures.

Social distancing within the park

Possible precautions in the survey include seating visitors on every other row on rides, leaving gaps in seats for shows and suspending parades and nighttime shows.

Virtual lines may be used by SeaWorld, and touch-free payments for food, merchandise and parking are also options in the survey.

Other measures include everyone wearing a mask, staff wearing masks, rides being wiped down in between each use and temperature checks upon entry for all guests.

The survey asks users how likely they would be to visit SeaWorld or Busch Gardens this summer if they reopen with safety measures in place. Responses range from ‘Very likely’ to ‘not at all likely’.

SeaWorld survey reopening

25%-75% capacity

One twitter user posted screenshots of the survey, which asks how much time will need to pass after the state allows businesses to open before they feel safe visiting theme parks, restaurants, shops and more.

The survey asks very specifically whether visitors would feel more comfortable visiting if the park was at 75%, 50% or 25% limited capacity. This will give SeaWorld a good idea of how comfortable people will feel in proximity to other visitors.

These responses are likely to give SeaWorld an indication of what measures visitors feel are necessary for them to visit when they reopen.

Universal also sent a survey to its pass holders on safety precautions when it reopens.

SeaWorld currently has no fixed date for reopening after its parks closed in March but it did outline its financial response to COVID-19.

Shanghai Disneyland will reopen on 11 May with safety precautions such as social distancing, temperature checks and increased cleaning procedures in place.
