Fire in the Hole is the park’s largest investment in a single attraction to date

Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri has announced an opening date for its new Fire in the Hole coaster.

Debuting on 30 March, the new Fire in the Hole is a $30 million version of the Fire in the Hole attraction at the 1880-style theme park from 1972.

The updated ride continues the story “of the historic night when the Baldknobbers set fire to the Ozark mining town and the heroic citizens fought the flames to save the city”, said Silver Dollar City in a press release.

The storyline is brought to life in an exciting new way, the park added.

Billed as the largest indoor coaster in the Midwest and manufactured by Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC), the new Fire in the Hole is Silver Dollar City’s largest investment in a single attraction to date.

The roller coaster is housed in a five-storey, climate-controlled building and includes 14 immersive scenes. It uses state-of-the-art technology, including onboard audio and enhanced digital displays.

Riders will travel across a 1,512-foot track at 8 feet per second, enjoying three drops and a final water splashdown.

“Signifying our biggest investment in a single attraction, Fire in the Hole continues Silver Dollar City’s strategic, multi-phased growth plan offering families opportunities to play and stay together in the heart of the Ozarks,” said Brad Thomas, president of the Silver Dollar City Company, last year.

“Like Silver Dollar City, Rocky Mountain Construction is committed to creating custom-built ride experiences that haven’t been done before,” said Darren Torr, president of RMC.

“We loved the challenge of engineering, fabricating, and installing the one-of-a-kind Fire in the Hole, creating a new ride experience while honoring a legendary coaster. It feels fondly familiar, yet it will be daringly different.”
