Six Flags Fiesta Texas has announced the opening date of Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger. The world’s steepest dive coaster is launching on 30 July 2022.
Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger has three 21-passenger trains. These lift riders 150 feet into the air before locking them in a face-first cliffhanger hold. After this, guests are dropped down a 95-degree, beyond-vertical plummet at 60 mph.
The new coaster travels across 2,501 feet of track. Highlights include an Immelmann inversion, as well as a 270-degree zero-g roll, 75-foot near-vertical drop, wild-banked turn, extreme airtime hill, and high-speed spiral finale.
“Once you are exposed to this menacing machine, you shall live forever… IN FEAR,” says Six Flags Fiesta Texas.

The storyline is as follows:
“Dr. Diabolical proclaims to have an elixir from the fountain of youth that is capable of preserving life. She lures unsuspecting visitors to partake, but little do they know that she is using them to fulfill her evil plan to frighten the world with her menacing creatures.
“Dr. Diabolical built a machine to harvest the essence of human adrenaline and fear in order to nourish her creatures. This machine is called Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger.”
In a statement released last year, park president Jeffrey Siebert said Six Flags Fiesta Texas “continues to push the limits of thrill and innovation” with its new ride.

“Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger joins an already stellar lineup of record-breaking roller coasters, rides, and attractions,” Siebert added.
“With eight intense elements including dramatic inversions and extreme airtime, it will quickly become a fan favorite.”
In California, Six Flags Magic Mountain’s 20th roller coaster, Wonder Woman Flight of Courage, opens on 16 July. It is the tallest and longest single-rail coaster in the world.
“Not only is this a record-breaking single-rail coaster, it brings Six Flags Magic Mountain’s coaster count to an unprecedented twenty, the most in the world,” said Don McCoy, park president.
