Georgia Surfer offers a coaster experience with aquatic elements

Six Flags Over Georgia has announced the name of its new Intamin Ultra Surf coaster, set to open this summer.

The new addition to the park is called Georgia Surfer. It is described by Six Flags as an “industry-revolutionizing attraction” as it offers a coaster experience with aquatic elements.

Georgia Surfer was named by fans of Six Flags Over Georgia. Per a press release, more than 2,500 name suggestions were submitted, and more than 27,000 votes were cast for the winning name.

“We’d like to thank our fans for the overwhelming response to our coaster announcement and naming campaign,” said Six Flags Over Georgia’s operations director, Spencer Lucas.

“We received a record number of name suggestions and votes cast, and we’ve been blown away by the hype surrounding this new attraction. We can’t wait for everyone to experience Georgia Surfer this summer.”

Manufactured by Intamin, a creator of record-breaking amusement rides, Georgia Surfer will launch riders forwards and backwards along nearly 590 feet of track.

Guests will reach speeds of up to 60 mph on free-spinning seats before hitting the coaster’s 144-foot peak and gliding down into a scenic splash pool.

During the ride, guests will experience three weightless airtime moments and four different airtime spins. They will also enjoy four water interaction effects, including a water vortex tunnel that creates a water curtain.

Georgia Surfer to open in summer 2024

Georgia Surfer will be constructed in the park’s former Splashwater Falls area, adjacent to Thunder River and Pandemonium.

Six Flags Over Georgia will open for the 2024 season on 2 March. When the new ride opens, the theme park will offer a total of 13 coasters.

Home to more than 40 rides and attractions, including the seven-acre Hurricane Harbor water park, Six Flags Over Georgia opened in 1967.
