Building has begun on the biggest ever expansion at Toverland theme park in the Netherlands.
The park has launched the dedicated 2018.toverland.com website, where people can follow the latest news on the expansion.
“Construction can now really start,” says Paul Oomen, Technical Director. “At the moment you can see the contours of the buildings by means of picket pallets.”
The new areas will open to the public in the summer of 2018.
“This is our biggest expansion so far,” said Oomen. “We are pleased that everyone is very curious about our expansion plans, hence we have developed a special website.”
The new Toverland Theme Park will be one and a half times larger. A new entrance area and a new theme area will be built over an area of seven hectares. Later this month, more details of the new themed area will be revealed. The expansion will cost 30 million euros.
Since opening as an indoor park in May 2001, Toverland (‘Magicland’) has expanded continuously. Land van Toos was soon joined by a second hall of attractions, the Magic Forest. The first significant outdoor attraction was Booster Bike, a Vekoma Motorbike Coaster, added in 2004. Then in 2007 came the wooden coaster Troy, anchoring a themed area of the same name. In 2012, Magische Vallei opened with Dwervelwind and soon after Djengu River, a raft ride by Hafema.
Located in Sevenum, close to Venlo and the German border, Toverland has welcomed over seven million guests since its first season. The park was founded by businessman Jean Gelissen, whose sister Caroline Kortooms serves as director.
Two new rides will be added: a Wing Coaster from Bolliger and Mabillard (B&M) and a boat ride by Mack Rides.
