Universal Beijing Resort has temporarily closed due to Covid-19 prevention measures as cases have been rising in the Chinese capital.
This is the second time the resort has been closed this year due to Covid measures. It also shut for six weeks from 1 May, reopening in June at 75 percent capacity.
In a statement on its website, Universal Beijing said it was temporarily closing Universal Studios Beijing, Universal CityWalk Beijing, the Universal Studios Grand Hotel and NUO Resort Hotel from 26 October.
Universal Beijing to refund or reschedule tickets
“We will continue to assess the impact on operations and try our best to resume operations as soon as possible,” the resort said. “We will inform you as soon as the reopening date is confirmed.”
“At the same time, we’re implementing a series of thorough cleaning and disinfection and NATs in the resort. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation,” it added.
Universal Beijing, which made its debut in September 2021, has not confirmed when it will reopen. However, it did say it will refund or reschedule tickets.
Earlier this year, Universal Beijing announced a series of new experiences, from a parade inspired by Tencent’s Honor of Kings video game to Minions-themed hotel rooms. The attraction is reportedly already planning its second phase of construction.
Universal Studios Beijing, the fifth Universal Studios theme park in the world, is home to 37 rides and attractions across seven themed lands. These include the world’s largest Minion Land and the first Transformers-themed land in the world.
Earlier this year, Shanghai Disneyland closed for three months due to a Covid-19 outbreak. It also reopened in June.
