New park to offer family-friendly attractions and interactive entertainment

Universal Destinations & Experiences has announced the name of its first-ever family theme park in Frisco, Texas – Universal Kids Resort.

First announced earlier this year, Universal Kids Resort will include a a 300-room themed hotel and a theme park featuring lands inspired by Universal’s iconic brands, characters and stories.

The park will offer family-friendly attractions, interactive entertainment, unique merchandise, F&B outlets and character experiences.

Universal Kids Resort will inspire the unbridled creativity of kids through imagination, discovery and most importantly – play,” said Molly Murphy, president of Universal Creative.

“We’re designing the resort so kids and families can feel the thrill of being physically immersed in their most beloved stories and characters.”

Work on the new resort is well underway after a groundbreaking in November, Universal said in a press release.

The company did not reveal any specific details about the new park’s offerings, but it did release a new concept image, which can be seen above.

Universal Kids Park was given the green light by Fresco’s city council earlier this year. “We’re excited to welcome Universal to our community and look forward to Frisco families making unforgettable park memories right here at home,” said Jeff Cheney, the mayor of Frisco.

“We also want to thank our residents who made time to share their feedback about the project,” Cheney added.

Universal’s parks expansion

“Their thoughtful engagement helped shape the agreement we have today which, we believe, is even better than initially proposed.

“We also appreciate Universal’s measured approach and willingness to work with neighbors to develop a plan everyone can be proud of.”

Universal is investing heavily in its parks business, with a year-round Halloween Horror Nights experience heading to Las Vegas’ Area15, and a fourth gate under construction at Universal Orlando called Universal Epic Universe.

Mark Woodbury, CEO of Universal Destinations & Experiences, recently Epic Universe is the “most technologically advanced park we’ve ever done”.
