New attraction is part of Universal Studios Florida‘s Minion Land

Universal Orlando Resort has soft opened its new Villain-Con Minion Blast and released new details about the interactive gaming experience.

Officially opening this summer as part of Universal Studios Florida‘s new Minion Land, the blaster attraction uses interactive game-based technology, immersive sets, custom animation and an original storyline.

When guests arrive, they will be transported to Villain-Con, the world’s largest convention for villains, taking part in a challenge to become the newest member of the notorious supervillain group, the Vicious 6.

As guests make their way through the convention, they will see the latest gadgets, vehicles and apparel for “the most heinous schemes” before picking up an ‘E-Liminator X’ blaster for the experience.

Equipped with freeze rays, banana bombs and explosive nunchucks, the blaster is used to cause as much mayhem and destruction as possible to earn points.

During Villain-Con Minion Blast, guests journey along a moving pathway and meet each member of the Vicious 6, voiced by the film’s original cast.

These are Belle Bottom (Taraji P. Henson), Stronghold (Danny Trejo), Nun-Chuck (Lucy Lawless), Jean Clawed (Jean-Claude Van Damme) and Svengeance (Dolph Lundgren).

Per a press release from Universal Orlando, Villain-Con Minion Blast is the resort’s first attraction to feature a connected gameplay experience via the official resort app.

Blasters can be synced to the app, with players able to track their scores, embark on special missions within the attraction, unlock evil perks and extra powerful blasts, and earn digital collectibles.

Minion Land is also home to the existing Despicable Me Minion Mayhem attraction, as well as the new Minion Cafe, the Bake My Day retail location and bakery, and the Pop-A-Nana Freeze Ray Pops F&B outlets.

Outside the Illumination Theater, guests can meet and interact with characters including Gru, Margo, Edith, Agnes and the Minions.

Elsewhere, Universal Studios Hollywood has confirmed that it is building the long-rumoured Fast & Furious-themed coaster.
