Therme announces CEO of new Singapore wellness resort

Tan Boon Khai to oversee the S$1 billion urban wellbeing destination

Therme Group has named Tan Boon Khai as CEO of Therme Singapore, Asia's first next-generation urban wellness destination.

With more than 30 years' experience in the public and private sectors in Singapore, Boon Khai will lead the development of Therme Singapore, part of Therme Group’s global expansion in the burgeoning wellness space.


“We warmly welcome Boon Khai as a key member of Therme Group, as we embark on our global expansion, building on the success of Therme’s social wellness infrastructure over the last 15 years," said Robert Hanea, founder and CEO of Therme Group.

"Boon Khai brings with him a proven track record in development, management and hospitality, and we are delighted that he has joined us in developing the next evolution of Therme’s wellness experience in Singapore, and bringing wellness to all locals and visitors in Singapore and the surrounding region."

Before joining Therme, Boon Khai served as CEO of JTC Corporation, chief executive of the Singapore Land Authority, senior vice president of CapitaLand, and regional general manager for Singapore and Malaysia at Ascott Limited.

Asia's first urban wellness destination

Therme Group’s first destination in the region will be a S$1 billion wellbeing resort. Set to open in 2030, it is situated on a four-hectare waterfront site close to Marina Bay Sands.

Therme Singapore will offer thermal pools, botanical gardens, art installations and cutting-edge health technology.

"Therme Group’s entry into Singapore marks a significant milestone in realising the vision of Therme Group to make wellness accessible to all," said Mah Bow Tan, chairman of Therme Group Asia.
