Abernathy Lighting Design Lights the New Tampa Bay History Center

News

Abernathy Lighting Design of North Providence, RI is pleased to announce the completion of the newly designed Tampa Bay History Center, located in Tampa, Florida. Brought onto the project by Exhibit Designer Christopher Chadbourne & Associates of Boston, Massachusetts, the Abernathy team successfully applied its collective 25 years of experience in the areas of museum, commercial, residential, office, theatrical, and entertainment lighting design to creating a compelling lighted environment.

Upon entering the museum, guests are welcomed in the lofty atrium, where Tampa Bay Historical icons come to life with animated linear LED’s and accented by Metal Halide lamps. The Icons can be seen at night through the many windows, attracting passerby’s from the surrounding area.

As one travels through the museum, guests get the chance to experience almost 500 years of recorded history. The 18, 000 square feet of historical exhibits follows civilization in the Tampa area from it’s Native American founders, to pioneer settlers, all the way up to it’s present day sports heroes and entrepreneurs. Guests also get to experience, small but key immersive environments that have lighting interacting with A/V to create the proper mood. The Abernathy team was proud to create a bright, dramatic and welcoming environment as well as incorporating low level lighting for individual artifacts.
