Announcement of Architectural Firm Chosen to Design the National Museum of African American History and Culture

News

The Smithsonian will announce the architectural firm chosen to design the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Six firms participated in the competition that was judged by a panel of professionals and chaired by Lonnie Bunch. The selected firm will be asked to respond to an official Request for Proposal to design the new building, scheduled to open on the National Mall in 2015.

A model representing concepts submitted by the firm will be on display at the press conference. The models from the five other architectural teams also will remain on exhibit in the Castle.
