“We are honored to share this award with such talented and dedicated individuals, especially producer Nancy Seruto and designer Eric Parr, who brought this phenomenal presentation to life, ” said Phil Hettema, President and Creative Executive, The Hettema Group.

The exhibition was developed in partnership with broadcast journalist Tavis Smiley, and organized by the Cincinnati Museum Center and Arts and Exhibitions International (AEI), a division of AEG Live. The Hettema Group, along with designer Eric Parr, and others, worked with Seruto & Company on the design and production of the multimedia exhibition.

The Thea Awards committee observed that America I AM pushes the boundaries of exhibition presentation in a captivating format that tells an important historical story — of the African American experience in the United States — in a fresh new way.  Nearly 500 years of African American contributions to the nation are celebrated through artifacts, documents, multimedia, photography, and music.  The exhibition will travel to ten cities over a four-year period.  For more information, see

Since 1994, the Thea Awards have become internationally recognized as a symbol of excellence and achievement within the themed entertainment industry.  Significantly, the Thea Awards honor the vision and dedication of project owners while also recognizing the vital work of talented designers, technicians, vendors and suppliers who realize the vision.

The Thea Awards will be presented March 6, 2010 at the 16th Annual Thea Awards Gala, at Universal Studios Hollywood.  Tickets and additional information about the event are available at
