The city of Cluj-Napoca, Romania is planning a large waterpark as part of a larger Masterplan Zona Verde activity project.
Set for construction in the Gheorgheni neighbourhood, the City Council of Cluj-Napoca is currently working on plans for the attraction.
The waterpark will have a covered surface of 20,900 square metres, while the 100,000 square metre area outside will feature pools, green areas and pedestrian alleys.
Referred to as ParQuarium in the masterplan, the park will feature eight slides, able to accommodate almost 2,000 people per hour, as well as relaxation pools, a pool bar, restaurants, terraces, a playground, and a pool for children.
The main attraction will be the 15.5 metres high King Cobra waterslide from Polin Waterparks.

The total value of the waterpark’s investment is estimated at RON 198.2 million (EUR 41.7 million). Construction costs are estimated at RON 125.5 million (EUR 26.4 million), without VAT.
Masterplan Zona Verde
ParQuarium is part of a larger project, Masterplan Zona Verde – an urban nature park, recreation park and area for sports activities.
Meanwhile, German waterpark Spreeweltenbad Lübbenau reopened recently following a €12 million redesign by dan pearlman experience architecture.
Among other activities awaiting visitors to the nature-inspired facility near Berlin is swimming with penguins.
Elsewhere, Gumbuya World in Victoria, Australia is expanding its waterpark, Oasis Springs.
As the second stage of its $50 million expansion begins, Oasis Springs will almost double in size.
It will feature Victoria’s most impressive family wave pool and six brand new waterslides – two monster twister slides and four lane rally race slides.
Currently, Oasis Springs is home to Typhoon Island, the Boomerango and Taipan water slides, a 300-metre Lazy River, heated rock pools, luxury cabanas, and Surf’s Up.
