The city of Lelystad has announced that the closing date for its tender opportunity for a new waterpark resort at the Batavia Quarter has been extended until February 2024.
Centrally located Lelystad, a fast-growing city in the Netherlands, is around 40 minutes away from Amsterdam and is accessible by air, ferry, land, and train, making it excellent for recreational operations. With the backdrop of a big nature reserve and dynamic wetlands, it is home to innovative commercial districts and will soon also have an international airport.
The city’s Batavia Quarter is one of the Netherlands’ most famous shopping, entertainment, and culinary destinations. The Batavia Stad Fashion Outlet, Batavialand Museum, port, and more attract three million visitors annually.
Now, Lelystad is turning this site into a unique northwest European leisure destination.
An extreme adventure park, Fashion Outlet Centre expansion, more bars and restaurants, a large indoor entertainment complex, a themed attraction boardwalk (pay-per-ride), a high-end hotel on the harbour, a river cruise terminal with a direct connection to Amsterdam, and an international waterpark resort are planned.
Deadline extended to February 2024
Stage 1 is the waterpark hotel. This is a great opportunity for Lelystad to make an impact on Batavia Stad Fashion Outlet visitors. A 2-hectare (5-acre) waterpark resort is proposed next to the Fashion Outlet and the new Batavialand Experience Centre. Thrilling slides for all ages and themed rooms with lake views will be included.
The city invites international waterpark operators, investors, and developers to join this hotspot and participate in the tender.
