Margaritaville at Lanier Islands is adding the first waterslide coaster in Georgia to its water park as part of the state’s largest waterslide complex.
Named Apocalypso, the waterslide coaster will be the centrepiece of a new complex of four slides. When the attractions open next year, the resort’s water park will offer a total of 15 slides.
Apocalypso will include uphill blasts and thrilling drops, as well as 418 feet of slide and an average water speed of 30 mph.
As well as Apocalypso, the water park will launch three additional world-class waterslides on the same tower – Serpentine Storm, Dreamsicle Dive and Mango Mania.
Georgia’s largest waterslide complex
“This blockbuster tower of slides, featuring Georgia’s first waterslide coaster, will be an epic addition to Margaritaville at Lanier Islands,” said Bucky Perry, vice president of Margaritaville at Lanier Islands.
“For those seeking an escape and a nonstop day of high-speed intensity thrills and family fun, Margaritaville at Lanier Islands is the place to be,” Perry added.
The tower of slides with the new Apocalypso attraction is the most significant investment in the water park since its opened. It is being created in partnership with WhiteWater, a leading waterpark manufacturer.
“The water park at Lanier Islands has created unforgettable memories for generations of families in the southeast and we’re excited to be part of its ongoing transformation,” said Jordanna Bower, vice president of business development at WhiteWater.
“With these new waterslides, that cover a range of thrill levels, kids and parents will be able to enjoy the rides together,” Bower added.
Margaritaville at Lanier Islands is a lakefront resort inspired by the lyrics and lifestyle of singer, songwriter and author Jimmy Buffett, who died on Friday (1 September) after a years-long private battle with skin cancer.
