Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya is opening in June 2021 with Aqua Nick, one of the biggest water attractions in Mexico.

Grupo Lomas and Karisma Hotels & Resorts are opening Mexico’s first Nickelodeon Resort, with rooms and facilities inspired by Nickelodeon’s most popular brands.

Design elements include artworks from Nickelodeon shows such as Dora the Explorer, SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and PAW Patrol.

The Nickelodeon hotel includes 280 oceanfront swim-up suites as well as four rooftop suites, including the Pineapple Suite and the first Turtle Lair Suite.

“After the huge success of the Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana, we could not be better poised to expand the brand experience with our resort,” said Mario Mathieu, senior VP of business development, design and construction at Karisma.

Aqua Nick covers six acres and is a themed water park with 2,000 square feet of slides and 1,820 square feet of river rides, including a lazy river and adventure river.

Additional attractions include the PAW Patrol Adventure Bay interactive water playground, Bikini Bottom Beach, a Slime Spot, and Soak Summit.

Nickelodeon Place will offer character experiences and entertainment, as well as Club Nick – a play zone for children. SNICK Lounge is a ’90s-inspired space with game room, sports lounge and live music.

“This year Grupo Lomas celebrates its 40th anniversary, and what better way to celebrate it than with the opening of this property that reaffirms our commitment to Mexico,” said Dolores López Lira, chairman of the board of directors of Grupo Lomas.

“We are delighted to continue our successful partnership with Grupo Lomas and Karisma Hotels & Resorts to open this incredible resort along a stunning stretch of white sand beach,” said Kevin Suh, president of themed entertainment at ViacomCBS.

“With Viacom Global Insights reporting that 70 percent of kids find family time one of the most important sources of happiness, we’re excited to offer a fun destination that gives them a world-class family experience they won’t ever forget.”

Themed hotels are growing in popularity, with UMG launching musical accommodation, Disney opening Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, and the world’s first space hotel debuting in 2027.
