Pico Play, a global leader in the planning, design, development and construction of world-class themed attractions and entertainment, was chosen to create, design and install a unique indoor water experience for HomeTeamNS Water Park in Singapore.

HomeTeamNS is a new five-storey clubhouse for Home Team national servicemen and the public. Located at the Bedok Reservoir Park, the waterfront-themed clubhouse is home to an infinity pool and a water adventure centre and features Singapore’s longest indoor water slide.

The challenge for Pico Play was to create something new for guests that would both keep them entertained and allow them to work on their fitness. Within multi-use developments or mixed-use destinations, there is often a need to add something new or different to regular visitors, and in this case, the operator wanted to offer more for its club members.

Water experiences add something new to mixed-use developments

The new themed water adventure experience is situated inside a multi-level annex building, which was an existing area of the resort. The Pico Play team brought something new to this location with a totally individual, stratified, multi-disciplined set of wet and dry challenges. The course caters to an array of skill levels and features an engaging steampunk theme.

Thanks to Pico Play’s design, the client now boasts the largest indoor tube-based waterslide in Singapore. The attraction’s bespoke and challenging scramble net is only accessible from a verticle wineglass-shaped access tube. This is suspended over the top of the water park’s guests, for an added wow factor.

In addition, there is a range of steampunk-themed climbing wall challenges above the mezzanine and the pool floor, as well as one of the longest-harnessed obstacle courses suspended 5m over the pool below.

WhiteWater, a leading waterpark manufacturer, supplied the two High-speed AquaTubes, Singapore’s longest indoor water slide and a custom, elevated AquaCourse for this project.

Real estate developers are increasingly turning to water parks as anchor attractions in mixed-use destinations, as a way of adding something new for regular visitors and bringing new guests in the doors. Surf parks are also getting in on the trend, in order to enhance the member experience.

Earlier this year, Pico Play also completed work on a record-breaking waterpark in Malaysia. SplashMania, which features the tagline “Where Nature Meets Fun”, is Asia’s largest rainforest water theme park. It covers an area of 18 acres (7.28 hectares) and is home to 24 water slides and 15 amusement park-style attractions.
