Seven Seas Waterpark set to open in Cagayan de Oro next month despite state of martial law

Seven Seas Waterpark and Resort, the first themed water park in Northern Mindanao in the Philippines, is expected to open next month.

This is earlier than expected as the region is currently under martial law following the crisis in Marawi City. Martial law is not due to be lifted until December.

However, the waterpark’s owner, Elpidio Paras, has reportedly told the Mindanao Business Conference (Minbizcon) that the current situation is not having a significant effect on Cagayan de Oro City.

Over 100 employees are being deployed to monitor security at Seven Seas and respond to any emergencies.

The pirate-themed park is located on a seven-hectare site. It features 20 slides, rides and attractions, as well as restaurants, cafes and food kiosks. The services are designed to cater for at least 2,000 visitors per day. Future development plans for the resort include a hotel.
