Tauá Resorts will begin construction of an indoor water park at Tauá Hotel & Convention Atibaia this October.
The water park is scheduled to open in July 2019. It will be 4000m² and cost R$20 million ($4.8 million USD). Polin Waterparks, leading supplier of waterslides and attractions, will work with the company on the project.
Daniel Checker, CFO of Tauá Resorts, said: “Our plan is to inaugurate an indoor water park in every resort of the network. In 2020, it will be in Tauá Caeté. And, in 2021, in Tauá Alexânia.”
“Six months ago the project took shape and we started looking for suppliers. We hired Carlos Mauad , who has great experience and designed the water parks of Rio Quente Resorts and Mabu Hotels & Resorts.”
As part of researching the water parks, Checker says: “we visited the Wisconsin Dells , one of the largest water parks in the world, as well as ventures in Poconos, Philadelphia and New York.”
The water park will be indoor to ensure year-round usage in the often cold and rainy climate of Aribaia. The water park will be air-conditioned and de-humidified.
It will also feature a pool for babies and toddlers, as well as pools for all ages. There will also be a spa with a 40 degree pool and a themed bar.
Tauá Resorts saw a 10% increase in revenue in the first half of the year. “The average occupation of resorts in Brazil is not so great as abroad, and has no connection with crisis,” says Checker. “Although our performance is good, we have idle spaces… We believe we will have rapid return on investment to generate more employment.”
