Therme Bucharest, Therme Group’s flagship resort, attracted a record number of international guests last year amid a growing trend for immersive wellness experiences.
“With an increased global recognition of the Therme concept, 30 percent of visitors to Therme are shown to be guests from outside of Romania,” Therme Group said in a press release.
“Bookings from the UK alone have increased by 240 percent from the previous year, in advance of the hotly anticipated Therme Manchester opening.”

Therme Group attributes the growth in bookings from the UK to an extensive PR strategy. It also notes a viral trend for “extreme day trips”, with guests flying to Bucharest and back in one day, which can be cheaper than a spa experience at home.
Repeat visitation by Bucharest residents has been effective, Therme Group said. This is due to an events calendar offering new experiences, like a festival dedicated to sauna and herbalism.
Immersive wellness is a major trend to watch in the attractions industry this year. The concept is pioneered by Therme, which fuses water park attractions and wellbeing treatments with art, nature and technology.
For example, Therme’s resorts offer wave pools and waterslides, as well as immersive art and botanical gardens.

“The hard work from teams across the globe has positioned Therme Bucharest as one of the most fun and accessible wellness destinations in Europe,” Therme said.
“With the Therme concept poised for worldwide growth, the UK in particular is primed for its arrival.”
Therme Group will present a new carbon tokenomics model at greenloop 2024, blooloop’s online conference focusing on sustainability in visitor attractions.
Now in its fourth year, greenloop aims to inform and inspire with top speakers and networking. The event takes place online on 30 April.
