Therme Group, a global wellbeing organisation, is developing a $350 million wellbeing resort at Toronto’s Ontario Place in Canada.

Therme Group is developing a C$350 million wellbeing resort called Therme Canada | Ontario Place in Toronto, working alongside the Ontario government and the City of Toronto.

Dr Robert Hanea, CEO of Therme Group, described Therme asa natural urban oasis where people can have fun, relax and unwind from their busy lives – boosting their physical and mental health”.

Ontario Place is a waterfront location that served as a tourism destination between 1971 and 2012. “The future of Ontario Place will be defined by how successful it can be connecting people to the water,” Hanea added.

“Through our technology and by engaging the community, Therme and our partners will add a new architectural landmark that will play a role in bringing more people back to the waterfront capturing the original spirit of Ontario Place from 50 years ago.”

Therme Canada | Ontario Place will be a family-friendly experience, featuring indoor and outdoor pools, waterslides, a wave pool, spaces to relax and botanical gardens.

Therme plans to create more than 8 acres of public spaces, including a free-access public beach, at its Toronto location. The company also works with artists to integrate works and installations at its destinations.

Therme Art, part of Therme Group, previously became a strategic investor in Superblue, an experiential art company that has opened its first venue in Miami.

Therme Canada will create more than 2,200 construction jobs and 800 full-time permanent roles. It can accommodate up to 3 million visitors annually, supporting the region’s post-COVID recovery.

Following approval to build a £250m wellbeing resort in Manchester, Therme Group announced plans to develop the concept in other cities in the UK, including London, Scotland and Wales.
