Therme is now working on two new US locations with an investment of $1.5bn

Therme Group has revealed plans for 10 wellness resorts in the US over the next decade after forming a joint venture with the Georgetown Company.

The Georgetown Company, a developer and owner of commercial, retail and mixed-use properties, will serve as Therme’s exclusive development partner for all US projects.

Each of Therme Group’s US sites will cover around 500,000 square feet and will be modelled on Therme’s existing facilities in Munich and Bucharest.

Therme US president and chief strategy officer Robert Hammond said: “With Therme US, we’re not simply creating a destination, we’re redefining urban wellbeing.

“Just as Roman baths once served as essential centers for community connection, our thermae will provide dynamic spaces where people gather and thrive.

“I believe that, much like museums and libraries today, every great city will soon count a Therme as a vital urban amenity.”

John Alschuler, CEO of Therme US, said: “Cities thrive when they invest in places that bring people together.”

Therme Group has projects underway in Dubai, Manchester, Frankfurt and Toronto.

Therme US and Georgetown are currently working on plans for two new US locations with an investment of $1.5 billion.

Robert Hanea, Therme Group CEO, said: “The global demand for wellbeing infrastructure has never been greater.”

Therme’s US wellness destinations will include thermal baths, saunas, mineral pools, lush greenery, waterslides, swim-up bars, and dining options.

Adam Flatto, CEO of the Georgetown Company, said: “Wellbeing is now established as a defining element of urban development.

“Therme’s visionary approach to embedding wellbeing into the urban fabric is not only forward-thinking but a necessary component for the future development of cities.”

Global demand for wellness infrastructure

Earlier this month, Therme Group announced the new Islands in the Sky attraction for Dubai, billed as the world’s tallest wellness resort.
