WhiteWater,a leading waterpark manufacturer,is celebrating an exceptional year for its Endless Surf product, marked by prestigious project announcements as its advanced wave technology becomes increasingly successful.

Following its launch in Munich in the summer, Endless Surf is gaining significant traction heading into 2025 andmaking headlines worldwide, with stories from the Australian Gold Coast to the beaches of Brazil and Cabo.

Endless Surf wave pools are becoming increasingly popular as anchor attractions for operators aiming to meet the needs ofcontemporary visitors, as interest in the sport grows worldwide.

Adaptability for an expanding market

Mick Fanning, a three-time world surfing champion, recently announcedPalm Valley, Australia's first surf and golf resort.Endless Surf's cutting-edge wave technology will power this project, which will be located seven kilometres from Main Beach at Parkwood International Golf Club. With a combination of a championship golf course, a luxury resort, and a high-performance surf lagoon, the attraction is set tobecome a key centrefor outdoor and leisure tourism in Australia.

Palm Valley's Endless Surf lagoon will offer adjustable wave settings to accommodate surfers of all ability levels, making it a welcoming place for both novices and experts. The facilityis expected to open in the middle of 2027, positioningitas an elite training ground for surfers getting ready for Brisbane 2032. There is also the potential for Palm Valley tohost Olympic events.

Fanning says: "Surfing has given me everything. Palm Valley is my way of giving back, creating an inclusive space that showcases the future of surf parks."

Endless Surf is also set topowerthe new Cabo Real Surf Club in Los Cabos, which combines surf and luxury living. The community will bethe first in North America to feature a private Endless Surf wave basin, along with other sports and health facilities. Cabo Real blends Endless Surf's sophisticated wave technology with the region's natural beauty and dynamic culture to offer a world-class surfing experience.

The developmentis expected to open in 2026. Building work has now commenced and$50 million in homesite sales have already been achieved.

In collaboration with Brasil Surfe Clube (BSC), Endless Surfhas launched two innovative surf lifestyle hubs: BSC Costa Verde and BSC Região dos Lagos. These projects will have the biggest wave pools in the Southern Hemisphere, leveraging Endless Surf's ES48 technology to generate over 750 waves per hour. Theclubs areset to open in 2026 andaim to transform surf culture in Brazil by bringing together surfing, wellness, and the arts in dynamic community spaces.

These recent announcements demonstrate how surf parks can be adaptedas anchor attractions across several business models. Each location is leveraging surfing's international appeal and versatility to support its unique master plan, from Palm Valley's fusion of sport and leisure to Cabo Real's property-driven strategy and Brazil's membership-based community hubs.

These projectsshow how the market for surf parks is expanding and how developers may take advantage of this worldwide trend to cater to almost any kind of venue.

Global growth

Endless Surf opened its first surf lagoon, which has been described as a pure-play surf park, at O2 SURFTOWN MUC in Germany earlier this year. SURFTOWN has experienced significant success, as evidenced by its sold-out sessions, events, and festivals. The surf park is proving the viability of locations that are exclusively focused on surfing and is a prime example of the adage "if you build it, they will come."

Endless Surf is also gaining traction in the themed entertainment industry. The company's second project is close to completion in Qiddiya City, Saudi Arabia. Here, an Endless Surflagoon will be a prominent attraction for the Aquarabia water theme park.

Endless Surf's momentum is evident as the firm wraps out an outstanding year. Itis in a strong position to continue influencing the inland surfing movement globally, thanks to its international debut in Germany and prominent locations in Australia, Mexico, Brazil, and Saudi Arabia.

With over a dozen projects in progress, Endless Surf is positionedto grow globally in 2025. The technology is leading the way in inland surfing and enabling developers to capitalise on the growing interest in the sport worldwide.

WhiteWater recently shared insights into the impact of its new product launches at IAAPA Expo 2024, where it revealed more new products than ever before and was recognised with two Brass Ring Awards.

Martin Aquatic,a world-class aquatic firm,has announced its latest innovation, the submersible light series, Blue Mar Nova, alongside the launch of its largest project to date that utilises its technology for powering multi-acre bodies of water, Blue Mar Basins.

Created to light up large underwater spaces, the Blue Mar Nova has been proven to outperform some of the brightest lights on the market. These lights are now in operation at the largest freshwater lagoons in the Caribbean, at Carnival Cruise Line’s new private destination, Celebration Key.

“We’re proud to have developed a light capable of illuminating the largest bodies of water we’ve ever designed and engineered,” says Josh Martin, president & creative director of Martin Aquatic.

“The Blue Mar Nova came about as we struggled to find the right solution for our Blue Mar Basins. And in our pursuit, we took it upon ourselves to meet the challenge with a product that we could stand behind.”

More efficient design

The Blue Mar Nova series includes two separate lights: the single-colour Blue Mar Nova Bright White and the full-colour Blue Mar SuperNova RGBAW.Both feature the same robust stainless-steel construction, an output power of 96 watts, and a light face made up of 100 cutting-edge Cree high-power LEDs.

Additionally, the lights are manufactured in the United States, ensuring the highest fabrication standards with UL 676 Certification for pool and spa applications. The main differences between the two lie in their unique brightness and colour capabilities.

With a lumen output of 9,841 lm, the Blue Mar Nova Bright White light delivers a visible light output equivalent to a 1,560-watt incandescent light. This results in a beautifully lit environment that can illuminate pools stretching hundreds of feet.

When designing a new pool, engineers who choose a Blue Mar Nova instead of the standard underwater light can use fewer lights while maintaining the same illumination level, resulting in a more efficient layout for traditional swimming pools.

Supported by lighting design software, each project can be rendered during the design phase to display the optimal lighting distribution, ensuring compliance with underwater lighting regulations.

For the Blue Mar SuperNova RGBAW, its wide range of colours is balanced by its ease of use. The deepest shades are available at the push of a button and fully controllable with built-in DMX/RDM functionality without needing external drivers. Owners wishing to create ambient coloured lighting can craft themed environments to suit any holiday or special event, thanks to the Blue Mar SuperNova’s colour-changing features. 

Reducing light pollution

“Martin Aquatic’s background in the themed entertainment industry was another factor that pushed us to develop these capabilities within the Blue Mar SuperNova,” says Diego Cordova, technical director at Martin Aquatic.

“Having the built-in controls that integrate with other special effect controls can make any underwater environment an extension of nighttime shows or productions—whether the lights are installed in a body of water next to a stage, supplementing a show fountain, or adjacent to a themed attraction.”

Both lights feature built-in louvers that help focus and contain their output within the body of water. This reduces nuisance lighting outside the pool that can contribute to light pollution.

Additionally, the Blue Mar SuperNova RGBAW is designed to assist coastal property owners with pools or basins located in sea turtle nesting areas. Changing the lights’ colour setting to Red or Amber will prevent hatchlings from being disoriented by white lights.

The launch of the Blue Mar Nova light series follows Martin Aquatic’s introduction of the Blue Mar Basins system, featuring its own filtration technology and custom control modules. Overall, these products for aquatic environments are being developed and marketed under the company’s Blue Mar Products brand, a new range from Blue Mar Basins, LLC.

These lights are open to any designer to utilise, and their size and powerful lumen output make them an ideal fit for properties looking to refresh their existing aquatic features by adding a new dynamic element.
