wiegand.waterrides, a leading water rides and attraction provider, has shared how it is helping attractions to prepare for the summer season with its stainless steel solutions.
The firm has built an international reputation for its products, which are made in Germany by the Wiegand family. It is renowned for its high quality and environmental labelling.
Debunking the myths about stainless steel water slides
As the outdoor season approaches, hotels, outdoor pools, and waterparks are turning to wiegand.waterrides for its customised offerings, including colourful GRP slides and stainless steel products.
Stainless steel is perhaps a surprising choice of material for an outdoor attraction as it can get hot in the sun. However, wiegand.waterrides says that it is very effective for water slides.
A spokesperson explains: “The water cools the surface and the welded seams provide a high-quality sliding experience where you hardly feel the transitions – forever. This is because there is no need for re-grouting, as is the case with GRP water slides with silicone. The slide also has an almost infinite service life and is very easy to maintain.”
Furthermore, attractions may be concerned about the cost of stainless steel. Although the material itself is typically more expensive than a GRP slide, this is not necessarily the case. Wide wave slides made of stainless steel are less expensive than their GRP counterparts as they can be manufactured optimally from existing plate sizes without incurring significant costs.
Combinations are also possible. When a landing pool needs to be modified to fit the building, the landing alone can be manufactured from stainless steel. For slides that run both inside and outside, it is also beneficial to hang the inside section fireproof from stainless steel, for example from the ceiling.
In addition, wiegand.waterrides can supply stairs and supports to complete each project.
A spokesperson from the firm says: “We are also happy to build everything for you in our factory in Rasdorf – completely. This makes us highly flexible, but of course we comply with the strict DIN regulations.”
Earlier this year, wiegand.waterrides revealed that Norwegian Aqua will debut the world first hybrid rollercoaster and waterslide, the Aqua Slidecoaster. With three levels of twists and turns around the ship’s funnel, this Norwegian Cruise Line-exclusive attraction features dual slides and a magnetic lift that launches guests through two different courses.
