wiegand.waterrides, a leading water rides and attraction provider, is marking the first two installations of its new concept, the next-generation Waterplay Towers.
Based on designs purchased from the former Dutch company Van Egdom, the entire water tower structure is now manufactured from high-quality stainless steel, which is powder-coated for enhanced durability.
The tower’s play elements, including jets and water cannons, have been updated and are joined by GRP water slides from the Wiegand range. The body slide, fast tube slide, double slide and wide slide all feature shallow landing pools for safe use.
Landmark installations
The first Waterplay Towers attraction opened at William Tell holiday resort in Limburg, Belgium, on 24 June. The spray park is the largest in the country.
Park owner, Lode Nulmans, says that the new attraction aims to extend the season of the 5-star campsite with heated water. The spray park will be open from April to October, independently of the existing outdoor pool.
The spray park and outdoor pool are open to day visitors, with free entry for overnight guests from campsites across the Limburg region.
The second installation is located at Denmark’s new Center Parcs Nordborg Resort.
Named Water Playhouse, it features nature-inspired theming throughout, including flower design daylight effects on the fast tube slide.
Earlier this year, Norwegian Cruise Line christened its new ship, Norwegian Aqua, which features the Aqua Slidecoaster by wiegand.waterrides. As the world’s first hybrid roller coaster and waterslide, this offers two unique ride experiences as the longest and fastest slides at sea.
wiegand.waterrides recently celebrated the successful launch of the Monster Lotus slide at the Looping Group’s Parque Aquatico water park in Portugal. Located 100 metres above the Tamega River, the hillside attraction offers stunning views as well as innovative slides that take advantage of the terrain’s variations in height.
