Zamperla celebrates launch of Dragonix at Parque Diversiones

Immersive Air Race attraction combines high thrills with custom theming

Dragonix at Parque Diversiones

Zamperla, a leading ride manufacturer, has partnered with Parque Diversiones to bring Dragonix, a brand-new Air Race attraction, to Costa Rica.

The attraction is now open to visitors and represents a further step in Zamperla’s commitment to delivering high-performance rides through innovation, precise engineering, and connection with local audiences.

Unique theming

Dragonix is the result of a structured, end-to-end collaboration between Zamperla and Parque Diversiones. Developed to Zamperla's exacting quality and safety standards, the project was informed by a multidisciplinary approach that combined engineering, project coordination, innovation, and theming.

Ulises Dixon, Latin America sales manager, Zamperla, says: "This project is the result of a true partnership, built on transparency, technical alignment, and a shared commitment to creating something distinctive for Parque Diversiones’ guests.

"From the early planning phases through final delivery, both teams worked side by side to bring a high-energy ride to life, designed to excite thrill-seekers."

Expanding Parque Diversiones' portfolio of extreme attractions, Zamperla’s Air Race was chosen for its capacity to provide dynamic aerial motion, sweeping turns, and sustained G-forces, and offers a high-adrenaline experience designed predominantly for teens and adults.

One of Dragonix's standout features is its unique theming, created exclusively for Parque Diversiones. This is crafted around a dragon-inspired storyline in which Dragonix, the Alpha Dragon, emerges from the depths to dominate the skies above the park.

This narrative turns the ride into an immersive experience where visitors fly alongside the dragons.

Enrico Patechi, Zamperla's creative design manager, says: "Our creative process always starts by identifying a clear thematic ‘north star,’ and then ensuring every element consistently points back to that main narrative.

"For Dragonix, that meant a very deliberate level of care: refining details across the full guest journey so the story reads instantly and cohesively, from the first visual impact to the final ride moment."

This approach shows how Zamperla attractions can be integrated into unique concepts and locally resonant narratives, helping parks develop thrilling and highly immersive experiences.

Zamperla's Air Race rides continue to evolve across the world, adapting to unique stories and strengthening its position as an adaptable, robust, and high-impact solution for parks developing innovative, distinctive offerings.

Last November, Zamperla presented a new inclusive ride, WingZ, at IAAPA Expo 2025. This drop-tower thrill ride is developed in collaboration with Morgan's, a nonprofit organisation dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals of all ages and abilities through fully inclusive, Ultra-Accessible initiatives.
