Two members of staff from the Monterey Bay Aquarium were honoured by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) at the IAAPA Attractions Expo on November 18, 2015.
This is the first time that staff from an aquarium have been recognised by the association in its annual Service Awards.
David Rosenberg and Marika Barranco were singled out for their contributions to the attractions industry.
Rosenberg (above), general manager of guest experience, received the Outstanding Service Award. The award highlighted David’s commitment to fostering the spirit of goodwill, professionalism and higher levels of performance within the industry.
Barranco (below) was the first ever recipient of the brand new International Young Professional of the Year Award. IAAPA praised her leadership, teamwork, and integrity as the guest experience administration manager for the aquarium.
Monterey Bay Aquarium in California first opened in 1984 and is home to over 35, 000 creatures in almost 200 exhibits. A non-profit organisation, its primary role is to inspire ocean conservation.
